A frame is only as good as the way its loads travel and the way its connections fit. We engineer both, then fabricate, mark, and ship the frame ready to bolt.
Most buyers compare frames by price per ton, but what really decides how much steel you need is the load path. In a well-designed frame, the force moves in a straight line, and every member does real work.
⚙️ How Load Travels Through Your Frame
-
Roof to Purlin: Dead load, snow, and wind on the roof panel are collected by the purlins, spaced economically.
-
Purlin to Truss: Purlins transfer load into the roof truss nodes (never the middle), avoiding secondary bending.
-
Truss to Column: The truss delivers reaction to the column via an end plate or seated connection; the column carries it down in pure compression.
-
Column to Foundation: A base plate with anchor bolts spreads the load into concrete, with stiffeners preventing plate bending.
-
Sideways Force to Bracing: Wind and crane surge are taken by the bracing system (drawn before fabrication), not the frames.

🏗️ Five Frame Systems We Fabricate
-
Portal Frame: Classic industrial shape; tapered or uniform H section columns/rafters. Clear spans up to 40m. Most economical for workshops/warehouses.
-
Truss Frame: Roof trusses over columns for long spans, heavy roof loads, or flat ceilings with services.
-
Braced Frame: Vertical and horizontal bracing for high wind loads or large openings that break the diaphragm.
-
Crane Frame: Heavier columns with brackets and runway beams designed for overhead travelling crane wheel loads and surge.
-
Mezzanine Frame: Secondary H section beams and columns added inside an existing building to create a new floor.
🔗 The Connection Library
Connections are where most site problems appear, so we treat them as a product of their own. For every frame, we issue a connection detail sheet. All plates are CNC cut and drilled, then trial-fitted before painting.
-
End Plate Moment Connection: Full/partial strength, with/without stiffeners, jig-welded to stay square.
-
Fin Plate & Cleat: Simple shear connections for secondary beams with fast site work.
-
Gusset Plate: For bracing/truss nodes, centered on the member axis.
-
Base Plate & Anchor Set: Template drilled to match anchor layout, with grout holes and stiffeners.

📏 Tolerance and Fit-Up (Precision Guaranteed)
-
Straightness: Within L/1000 (max 10mm over the full member length).
-
Bolt Hole Position: Within ±1mm of the drawing; drilled in one setting so both ends line up.
-
End Plate Squareness: Within 1.5mm to the member axis (checked on a jig before welding).
-
Camber: Pre-cut for beams over 9m so the member sits level under roof load.
-
Trial Assembly: Every key frame is trial-assembled; fitted bolt holes are marked for correct site sequencing.
📦 What Ships With the Frame
-
General arrangement drawing, member list, and connection detail sheet.
-
Piece mark list and loading plan (arranged by erection sequence, not size).
-
Mill Test Certificate 3.1, welding procedure, welder certificate, galvanizing report.
-
Spare bolts, anchor bolt setting template, touch-up paint/galvanizing repair compound.
-
Erection drawing with bolt tightening sequence (optional supervisor/erection team available).

🗓️ Erection Sequence (Example)
-
Day 1–2: Set out the grid, place anchor templates, check diagonals, grout base plates level.
-
Day 3–5: Erect first two frames with temporary guys, bolt purlins/bracing, repeat for remaining bays.
-
Day 6–7: Align the whole frame, tighten bolts center-outwards, release supports after bracing is complete.
-
Day 8 onwards: Install roof/wall panels, doors, windows, flashings, and close against weather.
💡 Weight Engineering (Where Your Money Goes)
Steel is sold by weight, so we design the frame to use weight only where needed:
-
Tapered Rafters: Follow the bending moment instead of a constant depth.
-
Optimized Purlin Spacing: Matched to actual panel span rather than safe defaults.
-
Strategic Stiffeners: Placed only where force concentrates.
-
Result: Saves 6%–12% of steel weight compared to a frame detailed by habit, while reducing the number of different members to speed up site work.
✅ Four Quality Gates
-
Material: Mill certificate checked, heat number stamped and recorded.
-
Fit-Up: Plates aligned/tacked in a jig; dimensions and diagonals checked.
-
Welding: Weld size/visual checked, UT/MT as requested, welder stamp recorded.
-
Finishing: Galvanizing/paint thickness measured, piece marks verified against the packing list.
