A first order should not be a gamble. We treat the opening batch as a true trial: the drawing is checked with you, the first members are photographed and approved before the rest of the batch is welded, and the trial batch is shipped on its own schedule.
Once you have seen the steel, the standard, the packing, and the paperwork on your own site, the repeat order follows the same route with none of the unknowns.

1. What A Trial Order Covers
The trial batch is a real production run, not a sample box. It is built on our own mill with the same drawings, same welders, and same inspection as a full project order, ensuring what you approve is exactly what you will receive.
-
Defined Scope: First batch of a defined scope, shipped before the balance of the project.
-
Certified Quality: Same material certificates, welding procedures, and coating records as the main order.
-
Photo Approval: First members photographed and documented for your written approval.
-
Third-Party Inspection: Welcomed at any stage by your appointed surveyor.
2. How The Trial Runs (Workflow)
| Step | What We Do | What You Approve |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Enquiry | Drawing set or member schedule reviewed by our engineers. | Scope, grade, and surface requirement confirmed. |
| 2. Quotation | Mill-direct price breakdown: material, cutting, welding, surface, packing. | Price and delivery schedule. |
| 3. Drawing Check | Shop drawings issued with holes, copes, and connections resolved. | Drawing approval before cutting starts. |
| 4. Trial Production | First members cut, welded, and finished on the production line. | Photo and measurement record of the first pieces. |
| 5. Inspection | Dimensional check, weld inspection, and coating thickness recorded. | Inspection report; third-party visit if required. |
| 6. Shipment | Bundles packed by member mark; loading plan issued. | Packing list and container photos. |
| 7. Review | Trial batch reviewed on site with your erection team. | Decision to release the balance or adjust. |
3. Where We Take The Risk Off You
-
Free Drawing Revisions: Revisions before cutting are free, because a corrected drawing is cheaper than a corrected member.
-
Cost Coverage: Members that fail the approved drawing are reworked or replaced at our cost.
-
Upgraded Packing: Packing is upgraded for the trial batch so the first delivery arrives undamaged.
-
Dedicated Engineer: One named engineer follows the trial from enquiry to arrival, ensuring no handover between departments.

4. Custom Fabrication In The Trial Batch
The trial batch is fabricated to your drawing, not adapted from a stock item, so the approval you give is valid for the full order.
-
Precision Processing: CNC cutting and drilling to the approved cut list; holes and copes set at one operation.
-
Heavy Fabrication: Built-up H sections, plate girders, and stiffened columns where a rolled section is not enough.
-
Surface Treatment: Shot blasting with primer and topcoat, or hot-dip galvanizing per specification.
-
Clear Marking: Member mark and erection sequence marked before packing.
5. Mill Direct, So The Price Holds
We roll, cut, weld, blast, and finish in our own workshops. Because there is no trading layer, the quotation you receive is built from material, processing, surface, packing, and freight only. It stays valid for the trial and for the repeat order that follows.
6. Delivery And Phasing
-
Trial Batch: 15 to 25 days after drawing approval.
-
Balance of Order: Scheduled against your site program; phased delivery plan issued with the contract.
-
Shipping Updates: Documents, packing lists, and loading photos sent before departure.
-
Repeat Orders: Move on a shorter cycle based on the approved drawing.
7. Paperwork Included With The Trial
-
Mill test certificates to EN 10204 3.1 (heat number linked to member mark).
-
Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and welder qualification records.
-
Visual weld inspection on all members (UT or MT testing on request).
-
Dimensional report against the approved shop drawing.
-
Coating thickness record for painted and galvanized members.
8. Start With One Drawing
To receive a mill-direct quotation, a proposed trial schedule, and the inspection plan within 12 working hours, please provide:
-
Drawing set or member schedule for the trial scope.
-
Steel grade and design standard (e.g., Q355B to EN 1090-2).
-
Surface system: bare, primer/topcoat, or hot-dip galvanized.
-
Destination port and the date you want the trial batch on-site.
